ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The Pure and Applied profile of our Science programs is a two (2) year, pre-university program that prepares students to pursue university studies in the physical, computer, or engineering sciences.

With labs built in 2013, students in this program have the opportunity to learn in state-of-the-art facilities with brand new equipment and technology. The Pure and Applied profile provides students with the foundations in biology and chemistry that are necessary to advance to higher education, while also providing them with an in-depth knowledge of mathematics and physics. In addition, we ensure that students are well-equipped for higher education by training them in the fundamentals of the physical sciences and engineering using methods such as:

  • Differential equations
  • Advanced calculus
  • Statistics
  • Problem-solving in engineering physics using MATLAB

This program is for the student who dreams of one day having a career in engineering, computer science, or the physical sciences. If you are interested in solving problems using mathematics and if you are curious about the evolving physical and technical infrastructures of the modern world, then this program may be for you.

Upon graduation from a university program, students in this field typically work as the minds of tomorrow, that is, commercial or residential architects pushing the boundaries of human-made structures, computer programmers changing the way we communicate and navigate in the online and offline worlds, electrical, civil, mechanical or aerospace engineers innovating the ways in which we travel, consultants or statisticians making predictions about the future, and much more.

For students missing the necessary pre-requisites we offer a Springboard to DCS program.

Equivalent courses may also be considered, especially for foreign students and adults.

UNIQUE BILINGUAL PROGRAM: DEC 200.FR

This program is well accommodated for Francophones, as well as bilingual students, who would like increased exposure to the study of science offered in the English language. However, in the Science DEC program, students have the option of doing their general education in French. This provides them with a solid foundation for future university studies in English while still allowing them to do their general education courses in French. Moreover, in conjunction with pedagogical developments in Quebec universities, students within this program can submit their homework and do their exams in the language of their choice.

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

In addition to our state-of-the-art physics, biology, and chemistry labs, students in our Science program also have access to our 3D printing room, the opportunity to participate in national-level math and science competitions as well as the opportunity to join the TAV College Robotics Club.
