ABOUT THE PROGRAM (NEW)

Computer Networking is a two-year career program leading to the attainment of an Attestation of College Studies (ACS). The program will prepare students to work as computer network technicians (NOC code 2281 ). These technicians participate in the design of networks and install, manage and secure networks, servers, and computers. Their task is also to ensure the operation of related Internet and intranet services, such as resource sharing, communication, hosting, telephony, etc.

What is the industry like?

Depending on the scope of the project, the work is done individually or in collaboration with various specialists: other computer technicians, analysts, data or network architecture consultants, project managers, quality assurance personnel, suppliers, etc.

Who is this career option for?

The work environment is very diverse. It often consists of state-of-the-art hardware and software components, but sometimes of components from previous generations. The work, therefore, requires a high degree of adaptability, constant upgrading of knowledge, excellent reasoning skills, the application of a structured approach, versatility, and open-mindedness.
