1. INTRODUCTION

Welcome to the Online Learning Assistance Centre (OLAC) at TAV College where you can find everything and anything you will need to help you with your online semester. If, at any time, you require assistance, the College has setup an email address exclusively for online help: onlinehelp@tav.ca

2. THE MOST IMPORTANT INFORMATION YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • The Fall 2020 semester will be held mostly online.
    If you are registered for a class that is required to operate in-person, check the Announcements for the class on Omnivox – Léa.

  • The College campus will remain open and fully operational for courses that require on-site resources. Students will have full access to student services, study spaces, computer laboratories and advisors.
    • The following classes and activities will be maintained on campus:
      • Science labs
      • Mid term and final examination
      • Tutorials
How do I access my Online classes?

Most classes will be delivered online.

*Important to note:

Some instructors will be using different virtual classroom software (Google Meet, Zoom, websites, etc.) Therefore, it is important that you check the announcements/messages from your instructors to understand how to access their course.

The following procedure outlines the suggested steps to take to discover your virtual classrooms:

  1. Log into your Omnivox account
  2. Go to Léa
  3. Click on “Announcements” and read the instructions from your instructor OR find the link to the virtual classroom in the course outline.

*If your instructor is using the “Léa – Online Class” feature for Omnivox:

  1. Log into your Omnivox account
  2. Go to Léa
  3. Under the class title, you have the option to click “Online”
  4. A new webpage will be opened where you may participate in the class

How do I communicate with my teacher and classmates?

Students are able to communicate with their course instructor and/or classmates via Mio (the Omnivox messaging service). Your instructors’ email address will be listed on the front page of their course outline and some instructors may request that you communicate with them by email as opposed to Mio.

i lost my omnivox password or don't know my student id number

*Be sure to include an informative subject line in the email to ensure that your message transmits immediacy.

I have not used Omnivox and/or google meet before
