gradual-resumption-of-on-campus-activities

Dear TAV students,

The Quebec government has recently announced the mitigation of the public safety guidelines to control the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. We would first and foremost like to reassure all staff and students that there will be no extreme changes to the mode of operation for the current semester. Most courses at the College will remain online and the health and safety of the TAV community remains our top priority.

We will be responding to the provincial government’s new announcement by introducing five (5) new on-campus resources for students. These on-campus activities will be completely OPTIONAL, carefully monitored and will adhere to strict health and safety guidelines: social distancing, hand sanitizing, mandatory mask wearing and respecting room capacities at all times.

The following are options that the College will be making available to students starting February 15, 2021. *Note: due to the unprecedented nature of the COVID-19 pandemic situation, these activities are subject to sudden termination. Staff and students will be notified of any modifications.

1 – OPTIONAL ON-SITE LEARNING AVAILABLE

As of February 15, 2021, some instructors will be teaching their online courses from inside a TAV College classroom (as opposed to their home). Students will be invited to attend the class in-person if they feel they will benefit from this. If your instructor is offering on-campus learning, you will be notified by Mio. Students will be required to communicate with their instructor on Mio beforehand and “reserve” a seat in the classroom.

2 – ON-SITE HELP CENTERS AVAILABLE

TAV will be offering various on-campus help centers for English, French, Math, Economics and Sciences. More information regarding the time, date and location as well as contact details for the help centers will be posted on Omnivox in the coming days.

3 – ON-SITE ENGLISH EXIT EXAM PREPARATION WORKSHOP

For students who will be required to write the Ministerial English Exit Exam, on-campus workshops will be available to students. The workshops will function as an extracurricular activity to prepare students for the exam. More information regarding the time, date and location as well as contact details for the workshops will be posted on Omnivox.

4 – INDIVIDUAL STUDY ROOMS AVAILABLE FOR RESERVATION

Students who would like a quiet space to form study groups will now be allowed to reserve a room at the College. A maximum of six (6) students will be allowed in a room. A minimum social distancing of six (6) feet will be mandatory for all study group participants. Students may contact Abetha by email: abetha@tav.ca to reserve a room for an allotted amount of time, between 7 AM and 7 PM. The room will be selected for you.

5 – ON-SITE EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES AVAILABLE

The College will be hosting a variety of on-campus extracurricular activities as a form of morale boosting and community engagement. We will be hosting an in-person “painting on canvas for beginners” workshop at the beginning of March, 2021 for a small fee. The workshops will be given by an experienced art workshop instructor. Participants will be required to purchase their own canvas, and all other materials will be supplied by the College. If you’re interested, please reserve a spot in the class before February 26, 2021 by emailing: studentexperience@tav.ca *There will be a limited capacity for the workshops. (Subject to curfew regulations).

IMPORTANT TO NOTE:

**All staff and students will be required to wear a face mask in the campus building at all times. Also, all COVID-19 safety procedures will remain in effect:

  • If you have tested or test positive for the virus, you will not be allowed on campus.
  • If you have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for the virus, you will not be allowed on campus until you can provide a negative test result from a recognized health institute.
  • If you begin to show symptoms of the virus, you will not be allowed on campus and you are asked to stay home and self-quarantine for 14 days, followed by a COVID-19 test.
  • Anyone who enters the building will be required to follow this procedure.

Thank you,

– TAV ADMINISTRATION
