Pre-University Entrance Requirements

Program-specific admission requirements: Pre-university programs

Some pre-university DEC programs have specific entrance requirements for admission in addition to the guidelines established by the Quebec Ministry of Education.

Applicants who do not hold a Certificate of Eligibility for English instruction will be required to take a French entrance exam to assess their language proficiency. This is necessary to ensure that students are prepared to complete the program, as passing the French Exit Exam is a requirement for graduation.

Health science

Prerequisites:

AND, completed the following:

  • Secondary V Language of Instruction
  • Secondary V Second Language
  • Secondary IV History
  • Mathematics Science and Technology 564-506 OR Mathematics Science 565-506
  • Chemistry 551-504
  • Physics 553-504 OR academic background judged equivalent to the DES.

For students missing the necessary prerequisites, we offer a Springboard to DEC program.

Requirements:

  • Cut-off average: 80%*

*We encourage all students to apply and we will assess each application on a case-by-case basis.

Pure and applied science

Prerequisites:

AND, completed the following:

  • Secondary V Language of Instruction
  • Secondary V Second Language
  • Secondary IV History
  • Mathematics Science and Technology 564-506 OR Mathematics Science 565-506
  • Chemistry 551-504
  • Physics 553-504 OR academic background judged equivalent to the DES.

For students missing the necessary prerequisites, we offer a Springboard to DEC program.

        Math 536 or
      • Cegep equivalent: Math 201-015-TV

      Requirements:

        Grade 12 sciences

        Prerequisites:

        AND, completed the following:

        • Secondary V Language of Instruction
        • Secondary V Second Language
        • Secondary IV History
        • Mathematics Science and Technology 564-506 OR Mathematics Science 565-506
        • Chemistry 551-504
        • Physics 553-504 OR academic background judged equivalent to the DES.
