Canadian Government Study Permit Application Process
In order to study in Canada and at TAV College as an international student you must obtain a study permit from the government of Canada.

International students are able to pay their TAV College fees online using the Western Union GlobalPay for Students system.
REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION
AEC and DEC programs
International students entering our DEC (Diploma of College Studies) programs must have completed schooling that is considered equivalent to a high school diploma issued by the Quebec Ministry of Education (MEES).
Prospective DEC students must prove that they have passed the Test d’évaluaion de français pour le Canada (TEF Canada) with the respective conditions met in order to be considered for admission. Please find the TEF Canada result requirements below.

For AEC (Attestation of College Studies) programs, your prior schooling must demonstrate your ability to undertake College studies should you not have a high school diploma. All international students must successfully complete the TAV College English Language Admission Test to verify language proficiency.
Mandatory French Knowledge
French proficiency levels for an AEC in English
As of July 2023, all individuals enrolled in the AEC program in English must demonstrate sufficient knowledge of French to obtain their attestation. Individuals holding a certificate of eligibility for instruction in English are exempt from this requirement.
The following skills will be evaluated using the Quebec scale of French proficiency levels: listening, speaking, reading and writing.
The Ministry regulations require more advanced oral than written skills:
- Speaking and listening : Level 7 (B2)
- Reading and writing : Level 4 (A2)
TAV College will not provide your attestation if you have not demonstrated sufficient French knowledge. Proof of this level of French language proficiency is required BEFORE the start of the program OR DURING the program. This proof will be placed in the students’ file. Students can have access to francization services before, during and after their studies. Please contact the international academic advisor for in-college French courses.
Recognized French Language Tests: TEFAQ, TCF-Québec, TCF-Canada, TEF, TEF Canada, TCF, DELF and DALF
Period of validity
All standardized tests have a validity period. A test that is no longer valid will not be accepted by TAV College. However, an attestation that was valid at the time of admission, but is no longer valid because studies have been extended, will be recognized. A student who has demonstrated attainment of levels 7 and 4 will not have to retake a standardized test.
Language test results
International students, having completed the following tests, must have obtained at least these results for their admission. Please note that the TAV College test must also be successfully completed, regardless of the other test results.

APPPLICATION PROCESS
How to apply to tav college
STEP 1 – Preliminary requirements
Once you have been approved by Immigration Canada to study in Canada, proceed to Step 2.
Step 2 – Select a program
Identify the program that interests you based on your career and/or higher education goals.
Step 3 – Review admission requirements
Before applying online, visit:
- Review the language test results that are required for admission;
- Review the general admission requirements for DEC or AEC programs set by the Quebec Ministry of Higher Education.
Step 4 – Apply Online
Once you have determined the program you wish to apply to, and that you meet the corresponding admission requirements, the next step is to apply for admission online at: www.tav.ca/apply
- *You will be required to pay a $30.00 CAD non-refundable application fee by credit card.
- Select the intake period you wish to apply to > the program title > and then FOREIGN STUDENT.
- Input all of the requested personal information.
- Once you have submitted your information and paid the application fee, you will be presented with a list of REQUIRED DOCUMENTS that must be submitted by email in order to process your application. If you forgot to take note of which documents to send or to whom, you can find a copy here: www.tav.ca/required-documents/
Step 5 – Processing your application
It is normal that it will take a few days to process your application and hear back from us. Once we have received all of your required documents, we will send you a registration form to be signed and sent back to us. Once we receive the signed registration form, we will issue a Letter of Acceptance as well as a detailed list of tuition fees.
When will I know if I've been accepted?
After submitting your application to TAV College the international admissions office will begin taking a look.
It takes 7 to 10 business days for any decisions to be made.
