ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Pure and Applied Science is a two-year pre-university DEC program that prepares students to pursue university studies in physics, mathematics and statistics, aerospace, electrical, mechanical, software, or civil engineering, and much more.

The Pure and Applied Science profile, of our Science DEC, provides students with the foundations in biology and chemistry that are necessary to advance to higher education, while also providing them with in-depth knowledge of mathematics and physics.

We ensure that students are well-equipped for university studies by training them in the fundamentals of the physical and engineering sciences by using methods such as:

  • Differential equations
  • Advanced calculus
  • Statistics
  • Problem-solving in engineering physics using MATLAB

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?

  • Necessary foundations in mathematics and physics to give you as many options for university studies as possible
  • Fundamentals of the physical sciences and engineering

UNIQUE BILINGUAL PROGRAM: DEC 200.FR

At TAV College, we offer students the option of completing their general education courses in French, while completing their program-specific courses in English. For example, if you want to study in the Science program with the bilingual option, you will be able to complete all your science-related courses in English. At the same time, your general education courses – language of instruction and literature, humanities, elective courses, and physical education – will be in French. Of course, the English as a second language course will be in English.

*Note that this option is only available for our pre-university DEC programs.

IS THIS FOR YOU?

The Pure and Applied Science DEC program is for the student who wishes to have a career in engineering, architecture, mathematics, statistics, or the physical sciences. If you are interested in solving problems using mathematics and are curious about the modern world’s evolving physical and technical infrastructures, this program may be for you.

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

In addition to our state-of-the-art physics, biology, and chemistry labs, students in our Science program also have access to our 3D printing room, the opportunity to participate in national-level math and science competitions as well as the opportunity to join TR3C, the TAV College Robotics Club.

The Science programs at TAV College are actively engaged in cutting-edge research , in collaboration with McGill University, Polytechnique Montreal, and Concordia University. Our students have the opportunity to participate in research activities and do summer internships at high-profile universities.

The College and my teachers taught me how to better think on my own and figure out how to solve problems. The teachers would assist, but also, would encourage us to learn more than just what was taught in class.
